…A Chronicle Of Human Life And Sufferings

(A Devotional Message)

By Mberekkeobong Essien

The topic, though appears subtly vague in nature, expressly seeks to point out a life’s journey dramatic with an end-result in misfortune having misery contents. Humans by nature are creatures of habits full with insatiable desire to outshine one another. Man is steadily hungry to be ranked, adored and glorified the best. ‘If not all, then almost everyone’ secretly wishes to understand another’s weakness. The moment they can succinctly predict you, that gives them a sense of control over you; other innuendos, satires and savagery follow suit unleashed to pin you down at its peak.

You can make your research on this assertion.

In a keenly contested competition, everyone remains an ‘enemy’; because hundred percent of competitors on the fieid, like football, surely desires what you automatically desire. Same in security service, all personnel are suspects; since anyone can magically perform satirical wonders. To make it deeper a little, superior officers, inorder to avert this recurring danger, move to institutionalize and policize the tactics, OPERATION MONITOR THE MONITOR. Those in this line of duty understand better.

In public speaking melieu, speakers upon speakers attempt to have complete mastermind presentations to win the elated audience. Deployment of arsenals, grammatical construct, speech power, words acceleration, elocution; while in writing, stylistics come to play. Everyone wants to win. And don’t also forget, that for everyone who wins, there’s someone who cries.

In circular Government, Church leadership, school setting and business, a handful of people instead of encouraging you, seem to be operating “pull-down” stunts. So no place is actually better. That’s unfortunately and exactly the world we live in. (However, anyone can actually turn the tables around; THAT’S WHY WE ARE IN CHRIST JESUS). The truth is, man lives in a society pandemically occasioned by unlimited forces. The world is deep-seated and deep-rooted in control-forces (seen and unseen) only one who possesses universal comic intelligence and spirit-eye can unravel the mystics behind human degeneration and sufferings.

Remember, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities; against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”

When I picked interest on this topic, immediately, the following story comes to mind: A Kenyan runner by name Abel Mutai was only a few meters from the finish line, but got confused with the signs and stopped, thinking he had finished the race. What a tragedy for someone in a race to get confused in the middle of such competition!

Behind him was a Spanish man, Ivan Fernandez, intelligently realizing what was going on, started shouting to the Kenyan to keep running. But, very unfortunate that Mutai did not understand Spanish language and did not keep the advice (instruction) either. Still, knowing what was going on that Mutai didn’t understand the language, Fernandez used hands to consistently push Mutai to victory. For me, that was an unfolding tragedy. And it should interest you to enquire why did Fernandez not able to pass Mutai to win the trophy.

After the confused race-runner had been declared the winner, a reporter (journalist) asked Ivan Fernandez “Why did you push Mutai, instead of passing to win?” Ivan replied, “My dream is that one day, we can have some sorts of community (Heavenly blissful life) where we push ourselves and help each other to win” The reporter insisted, “But, why did you let the Kenyan win, for I’m bewildered?” Ivan replied again, “I didn’t let him win, he was going to win me. Naturally, the race was his already”.

The stern reporter inquisitively insisted and asked again, “But you could have won!” Ivan queerly looked at him and replied: “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honour of this medal? What would my Mother think of it?” The values are transmitted from generation to generation, so what values do we teach our children and how much do you inspire others to earn?

Most of us take advantage of people’s weaknesses instead of helping to strengthen them”. For spectators, this had seemingly appeared to be the second human tragedy, but it wasn’t, rather someone had been positioned by the Universal God to correct a destiny error (tragedy). And to change this narrative, Fernandez had to be the sacrificial tool; at the end, Fernandez was equally awarded and extolled for his rare magnanimousity and life-enhancing sacrifice offered to another.

Beloved, what God wants to do for you cannot be hindered or measured by what He has done or He’s doing for someone else. The same way my blessings cannot hamper yours; then yours cannot distort mine. As a matter of fact, the only way my blessings can stop yours is, ‘if you are envious of me. Instead of concentrating, praying and working on your own blessings, you put your attention on envying someone else’s’. Tell me how will you be blessed? Job 5:2 says, “that envy slays a silly fellow”. WHAT A LIFE OF TRAVESTIC TRAGEDY!!!

Celebrate people. Be happy with them. Push them above you. “Rejoice with them that do rejoice” -Romans 12:15. Let them feel on top. Prepare them for awards, for anyone who brings sunshine to the lives of others, sunshine can never depart from his doorstep. Don’t become an error in the journey of life, but offer the platform for leaning. Let’s together have a one-path one-step bus-stop solution in Christ Jesus.

May this message grant us comfort and give consolation to the downtrodden.
