Coronavirus: The Global Pandemic
The world is shaken by the novel coronavirus which WHO has declared a global pandemic.
Government at all level in Nigeria has started placing restriction on social gathering as measure to curtail possible outbreak in the country beyond control.
Nigerians have started entertaining fears of of being infected with the virus even as the number of infected persons has increased to 12.
Today some states have taken bold steps by announcing restrictions on social gathering. Among such state include Rivers State which the governor has directed closure of both public and private schools including tertiary institution in the state on 23rd March 2020.
He further announced the restriction on religious gathering. Governor Nyesom Wike in his statement pleaded with residents in the state to bear with government while maintaining hygiene and adhere to precautionary measures as announced by Ministry of Health.
Similarly, Kogi State Governor, Bello has announced closure of schools and ban on social gathering that exit 30 participants. Also, Kaduna state has also announce closing of schools in the state.
Furthermore, NUC has directed that all Tertiary Institutions should close to ensure safety of students and staff.
Meanwhile, the dreaded virus can be control if all citizens will adhere to medical advice and maintain hygiene, wash hands regularly, avoid crowded place etc.
