Atiku Unveil Policy Document, Promises 3 Millions Jobs For Women and Youths.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has unveiled his policy document with a promise to create three million jobs every year if he is elected as president in the 2019 election.
The PDP flag bearer release the document on Sunday. The document contains a seven-year time-line for the achievement of the policy.
He gave stated the unemployment rate in the country at 16 million a figure he said takes 9 million more than the rate unemployment rate of 2014. He further opined that over 2 million people enters unemployment market each year which has triple the rate in less than a decade that is from 5.1% in 2010 to 18.8% in 2017. According to the statistics, unemployment rate for women and young people is put 33%, while 70% of unemployed youths are uneducated and unskilled. Hence, creating jobs for this group of people will be of paramount importance to his administration if given opportunity. These groups are seen as being vulnerable for easy recruit for violence and crime purposes.
He has identified measure he will take if elected to solve these problems which include: launching a new, efficient, cost-effective and sustainable National Entrepreneurship Development and Job Creation Programme. Target the creation of up three million self and wage-paying employment opportunities in the private section annually.
Target all categories of youth, including graduates, early school leavers as well as massive numbers of uneducated youth who are currently not in schools, employment or training
Create incubation centers, clusters and industrial/commercial hubs to provide a market place for MSMEs and SMPs.
Champion the repositioning and streamlining the activities of the existing Federal and State Government Job Creation Agencies.
Other areas of priority in his policy document are infrastructure development, human capital development and poverty eradication. His target is to take about 50 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2025.
There is also plan to privatize NNPC and four National Refineries. Construction of 5000 kilometres of roads and 5000 kilometre of modern railway
Atiku campaign Organization on their released on Saturday explained that the PDP presidential flag bearer decision to launch his campaign with a policy launch aim at running an issue-based campaign and also to enable Nigerians take ownership of the document and be part of rebuilding the country
The campaign has a simple message: United, the people of Nigeria can begin anew, creating a prosperous and secure future and a better life for every Nigerian. The policy document focuses on creating jobs, ensuring security, growing business, developing power and water infrastructure, agriculture and education and how we will empower women.
The PDP presidential candidate looks forward to conducting vital discussions as he travels across the length and breadth of Nigeria, meeting and conversing with stakeholders – small business, farmers, workers, students, mothers, and children.
